Are there times when you feel you need to be silent? Not every comment or post we see online needs a response. Sometimes, as we see in the Holy Bible, we are to be silent. Learn when to speak and when to be silent as you examine the Scriptures.

There are 400 years of silence where the Word of God was not recorded. This is known as the time between Malachi and the first New Testament Gospel, Matthew. Let’s explore both the Old Testament (OT) and New Testament (NT) for Bible verses about being silent or silence.

The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent. Exodus 14:14 ESV

Don’t sin by letting anger control you. Think about it overnight and remain silent. Psalm 4:4 NLT

Teach me, and I will be silent; make me understand how I have gone astray. Job 6:24 ESV

Oh that you would keep silent, and it would be your wisdom! Job 13:5 ESV

If not, listen to me; be silent, and I will teach you wisdom.”Job 33:33 ESV

Be angry, and do not sin; ponder in your own hearts on your beds, and be silent. Psalm 4:4 ESV

When the Lamb broke the seventh seal on the scroll there was silence throughout heaven for about half an hour. Revelation 8:1 NLT
