The One Year® Love Language Minute Devotional by Gary Chapman is based on thirty years of counseling experience. The devotional is designed so that you can read individually or as a couple “whether your relationship is strong or struggling, stable or challenging.” Each day begins with a scripture verse from different Bible translations: NLT, NIV, KJV, NASB, and ESV. A short devotional insight follows centered on the theme of relationship and love.

Some of the daily devotional topics include:

  • Parenting as a Team
  • Dealing with Irresponsibility
  • Balancing Work and Family
  • God’s Plan For Sex
  • Languages of Apology

The One Year® Love Language Minute Devotional  by Gary Chapman would be excellent for engaged couples or those newly married. Although I like many of the Love Language books written by this author, I found the devotional book disappointing. At times, I found it frustrating, since I was not interested in counseling. The book assumes that something is wrong and needs to be fixed.

When I open a devotional on love I anticipate words flowing with beauty and Scripture, not marital counseling and financial advice.

The book is helpful and likable for other readers, it just didn’t fit my current season of life.

This devotional is available in imitation leather, Kindle format or lavender softcover. I purchased the lavender softcover and it’s very beautiful. The spine is embossed with a decorative pattern, the back cover is embossed with these scripture words” Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins. 1 Peter 4:8 NLT
