Renewed: Finding Hope When You Don’t Like Your Story by Heather M. Dixon

A new Bible study by author, speaker and Bible teacher Heather M. Dixon: Renewed: Finding Hope When You Don’t Like Your Story. Heather helps us find the courage to live by faith. Maybe its a past story of hardship or current story with troubled waters. Perhaps a place where we lacked determination and courage. In her writing, speaking and teaching author Heather M. Dixon brings our hearts to “the rescue” of God!

Trust God with your story–even the hard chapters.

Renewed, a four-week Bible study by Heather M. Dixon, explores the life of Naomi as told in the Book of Ruth. As women turn the pages of this story, they will learn to flourish as they live their hard stories and trust that God can transform them.

With insight from her own journey of living with a story that is not easy, Heather teaches women to flourish through a willingness to trust that God can transform them and trade their heartache for hope. They will learn to rely on God’s movement in the details of their story, even when it can’t be seen, gain confidence to act in the part of their stories that they can change, and watch expectantly for God to redeem the parts they can’t.

Author Bio

Heather M. Dixon is an author, speaker, and Bible teacher who understands living with a story that is not easy. Diagnosed with an incurable and terminal genetic disorder that she inherited from her mother, she is passionate about encouraging and equipping women to trust in God, face their greatest fears, and live with hope, especially in the midst of difficult circumstances.

Her popular blog The Rescued Letters is the story of a simple girl from a small town who has been rescued by God’s grace more times that she can count. This is the story of two words spoken in silence on a quiet summer morning. This is the story of a faithful God, gracious enough to prepare the heart of a weary and doubtful follower. This is a story of hope found at the end of every dark road. This is a story about the power of the collective prayer. This is a story about choosing life, even when the path set before you is not the one you would have chosen.

When she is not blogging at The Rescued Letters or speaking at women’s conferences and events, Heather loves to make the most of everyday moments such as cooking for her husband and son, checking out way too many library books, or unashamedly indulging in her love for all things Disney.

Bible Verses About God Rescuing Us

There are more than 100 Bible verses about how God rescues us! While many people are familiar with the story of Job, few recognize the rescued mission between Ruth and God! Deep dive into the Rescued experience…how God rescues us in the Bible.

Looking at 1 Samuel 12:21, you can see how we reach for idols- not God- on a rescue mission. The Bible warns: Do not turn away after useless idols. They can do you no good, nor can they rescue you, because they are useless. (NIV)

So it’s important we learn HOW to correctly pull off the rescue mission! Otherwise, we might be tempted to rescue ourselves in other things like food, addictions, relationships or overworking?

When you work through Heather M. Dixon’s new Bible study you will learn Biblical truths for how God rescues us. Get a copy today and study with a home group, church group, online Bible study group- or solo. You’ll be glad you took time to learn about how God rescues us!

The Names of God: His Character Revealed by Melissa Spoelstra

We find different names for God in the Holy Bible. Through His names we will find the character of God. All the names used for God are included in the Bible. Popular Bible teacher Melissa Spoelstra has compiled a 6-week Bible study to help you understand some of these names for God. If you are new to the faith or a long-time Christian, you will find this Bible study a helpful experience.

Know God Better Through the Study of His Names

When you study the names of God from the Bible, you are learning the meaning of each name. Both Hebrew Old Testament and Greek New Testament reveal the character of God- by His names. Spend a few minutes each day as you learn about God.

In The Names of God, popular Bible teacher, speaker, and author Melissa Spoelstra leads you on an exploration of the many names of our triune God—from Elohim and Yahweh to Abba, Jesus, Holy Spirit, and others. As you spend six weeks studying these names, you will not only learn more about God, but you also will know Him better—because through the discovery of God’s names, you will discover Him.

Today’s culture and others’ views, even those of other Christians, can present a distorted view of God. Some suggest God exudes qualities He does not possess such as being unloving or apathetic toward His creation. In a world where we find people creating God in their own image, studying God’s names can remind us that we are created in His. In fact, one of the best ways to know God’s true character and grow closer to Him is to study His names.

As women study the names of God, their ideas about God will become more grounded in what His names tell them, and thus more personal, allowing a greater trust in Him to share the details of their lives. Whether having walked with God for many years or just starting out in a relationship with Him, by the end of this study women will not only know more about God but will know Him better—because through the discovery of God’s names, they will discover Him!

Components for this six-week Bible study, each available separately, include a Participant Workbook, a Leader Guide, DVD with six 25-minute segments (with closed captioning), and a boxed Leader Kit containing one of each component. Available at Cokesbury, Amazon, ChristianBooks and online stores.

Sometimes we can feel more like worthless junk than a valuable masterpiece. Yet that is exactly what God’s Word says that we are!
