While reading my Bible this week, something simmered inside my heart. I realized the Holy Bible has many verses about shame. Perhaps, we are in a period of time where we need these verses. A time when kindness has evaporated. And a time when meanness is unrecognizable- because it is so common. Someday, we might realize we are in a season where disgrace and embarrassment are marketing tools of an unhealthy society.

While some people cause shame unintentionally, others do so purposely. Watch the news, political leaders, or celebrities… and within five minutes the shame narrative has spread like wildfire. Not spiritual fire. Wildfire.

My friends, I challenge you to be less like the world. Pick your Holy Bible and feed on the word of God. Turn off the television and political feeds. This is your season to show kindness to those who are ill, hurting, frightened, or alone. The opposite of shame is approval, honor, and respect. More of this, please!
