Cornerstone is one of the words you may see in your Bible, as a metaphor for Christ. Below are Bible verses about the cornerstone. When the word first appears in Old Testament Hebrew, it show up as construction material, specifically the square corner of a building. The word appears in New Testament Greek as an external angle, internal corner, or secret place.

A modern definition is the the stone usually placed ritually in the outer wall of a building to commemorate its dedication. Sometimes the stone is solid, with date or other inscription.  Now that we have a frame of reference, let’s look at Bible verses about the cornerstone.

The stone that the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone. (Psalm 118:22 HCSB)

So this is what the Sovereign Lord says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who relies on it will never be stricken with panic. (Isaiah 28:16 NIV)
